UFC on ESPN 6: Reyes vs. Weidman predictions

All eyes on Beantown locals tonight

The UFC is in Boston tonight as undefeated light heavyweight No. 4 Dominick Reyes welcomes former middleweight champ No. 8 Chris Weidman (14-4-0) to the division.

We also get to see the Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens saga play out – in the octagon.

Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main card.

MAIN CARD (PM ET/ 6PM PT)

DERON WINN (6-0-0) VS. DARREN STEWART (10-4-0, 1NC)

Andrews: Stewart has the experience and size advantage, but Winn trains at AKA. His wrestling gameplan will be ready to combat whatever Stewart will throw at him, even if he did miss weight.

Andrews Prediction: Deron Winn via UD

#12 MAYCEE BARBER (7-0-0) VS. #15 GILLIAN ROBERTSON (7-3-0)

Andrews: Barber thinks she can beat Shevchenko right now, but her striking is still improving. Robertson is a good test and I think the scrappy Canadian can get the upset with her AKA training.

Andrews Prediction: Gillian Robertson via TKO

JOE LAUZON (27-15-0) VS. JONATHAN PIERCE (9-3-0)

Andrews: Lauzon is the longtime veteran, Pierce is trying to get there from DWCS. But J-LAu did not look good at the weigh-ins. And he’s lost three in a row and despite Pierce’s inexperience, he catches Lauzon with a shot he would have eaten years ago.

Andrews Prediction: Jonathan Pierce via TKO

GREG HARDY (5-1-0) VS. BEN SOSOLI (7-2-0, 1NC)

Andrews: DWCS wins in this fight. As long as Hardy doesn’t underestimate Sosoli, it should be another quick night.

Andrews Prediction: Greg Hardy via TKO

#7 YAIR RODRIGUEZ (12-2-0, 1NC) VS. #8 JEREMY STEPHENS (28-16-0, 1NC)

Andrews: Despite the bad blood, both fighters will be careful. Rodriguez should dictate the fight with his pace but at three rounds, Stephens has a better chance to use some power to slow that pace down. Still, I have to go with speed and the flamboyance of El Pantera.

Andrews Prediction: Yair Rodriguez via UD

MAIN EVENT

#4 DOMINICK REYES (11-0-0) VS. #8 CHRIS WEIDMAN (14-4-0)

Andrews: Weidman was the man at middleweight but like most greats, got worn down. Now he is the smaller guy taking on a guy much like himself. But Weidman still has the grappling. Still, I think Weidman’s chin and body have worn down that Reyes stops him with a shot get it to the ground for the tap.

Andrews Prediction: Dominick Reyes via TKO
