One thing to note: Three female fighters on the undercard did miss weight, but at least one was understandable. Flyweight Isabella de Padua is fighting on short notice (replacing Veronica Macedo) against Ariane Lipski, but came in at 130.5 pounds. Bantamweights Tracy Cortez (6-1-0) and Vanessa Melo (10-6-0) both tipped the scales at 136.5 pounds. Both fights will continue.
Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main card.
MARKUS PEREZ (11-2-0) VS. WELLINGTON TURMAN (15-3-0)
Andrews: Perez was impressive in his last fight with Anthony Hernandez and at the weigh-in, no joke. Turman is young but lost a split-decision to Karl Roberson. Both look similar style-wise, but Perez has more experience in age and octagon time so I will go with “Maluko” to get the decision.
Andrews Prediction: Markus Perez via UD
ANTONIO ARROYO (8-2-0) VS. ANDRE MUNIZ (18-4-0)
Andrews: Two Brazilians making their debut in the octagon. Muniz has the experience factor and likes to get the tap. Arroyo has finished all but one of his wins. I think Arroyo has more striking tools to get the job done.
Andrews Prediction: Antonio Arroyo via TKO
#13 CHARLES OLIVEIRA (27-8-0, 1NC) VS. JARED GORDON (15-3-0)
Andrews: Oliveira has to be careful to avoid the striking of Gordon. He knows Gordon likes to strike and is not a submission threat. That means he can let his hands go or he can set up the takedown and soften Gordon, which is what I think he will do.
Andrews Prediction: Charles Oliveira via submission
#14 MAURICIO RUA (26-11-0) VS. PAUL CRAIG (12-4-0)
Andrews: Craig likes to get the submission but will have to get past the weathered striking of Rua first. Can Craig get the fight to the ground? Shogun is aging at 37 years old and has a single submission win! Unless Craig can land some good power shots or get a good takedown, Rua should get the decision win.
Andrews Prediction: Mauricio Rua via UD
JAN BLACHOWICZ (24-8-0) VS. RONALDO SOUZA (26-7-0, 1NC)
Andrews: All the money is on Blachowicz and for good reason. He put Luke Rockhold away real good. He only has six knockout wins, but add nine submissions and I think he has enough to put away a 39 year old and aging Souza. A bad loss here and I think Souza retires.
Andrews Prediction: Jan Blachowicz via TKO
