The UFC confirmed today that bantamweight Sara McMann (11-5-0) will return to the octagon for the first time in almost two years when she takes on Brazilian Lina Lansberg (10-4-0) at North Carolina’s UFC Raleigh event in January.
McMann, 39, and a Olympic silver medalist, last competed in February 2018, when she lost to Marion Renau, part of a current two fight skid. She was booked to fight Nicco Montano at UFC on ESPN+ 13 last July, but pulled out due to injury.
McMann’s most memorable fight was probably her loss to then champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 170 in February 2014.
Meanwhile, Lansberg, 37, is on a two fight win streak. “The Elbow Queen” decisioned Macy Chiasson at UFC on ESPN+ 18 in September and Tonya Evinger at UFC on ESPN+11 in June.
