UFC 249: Former champions Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas collide

Adjustments by both fighters likely

UFC 249 in Brooklyn will have two former strawweight champions squaring off.

No.1 Jessica Andrade (20-7-0) and No. 2 Rose Namajunas (8-4-0) will rematch in Brooklyn with the loser likely eliminated from title shot contention.

Andrade, 32, lost the belt in her last bout to Weili Zhang at UFC on ESPN+ 15 in August 2019. But she beat Namajunas for the belt at 237 in May 2019.

Meanwhile, Namajunas, 27, took some time off after losing the belt to Andrade at UFC 237 in May 2019. She was dominating the bout but made a mistake that Andrade used to slam her to the canvas and earn the TKO victory. It will be interesting to see if “Thug” makes any adjustments in April.

UFC 249 is scheduled for April 18 at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York. Current scheduled bouts are:

Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0-0) vs. Tony Ferguson (25-3-0)

Jessica Andrade (20-7-0) vs. Rose Namajunas (8-4-0)

Uriah Hall (15-9-0) vs. Ronaldo Souza (26-8-0, 1NC)

Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0-0) vs. Tony Ferguson (25-3-0)

More bouts are expected to be announced.
