UFC 249: Shamil Abdurakimhov vs. Ciryl Gane added

Russia vs. France in Brooklyn

The UFC confirmed on Friday that No. 10 Shamil Abdurakimhov (20-5-0) and No. 15 Ciryl Gane (6-0-0) will meet at UFC 249 in Brooklyn.

Gane, 29, is undefeated in six contests and coming off a decision win over Tanner Boser at UFC on ESPN+ 23 in December. Also impressive is the Frenchman’s three submission wins.

Gane is also observant of his country’s recent decision to implement the legalization of MMA.

Meanwhile, Abdurakimhov has other ideas.

The 38-year-old Russian had a three fight win streak snapped by Curtis Blaydes at UFC 242 in September 2019 and will look to improve on his No. 10 ranking. Like Gane, “Abrek” is not shy about going to the ground as his four submission victories attest.

UFC 249 is scheduled for April 18 at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York. Current scheduled bouts are:

Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0-0) vs. Tony Ferguson (25-3-0)

Jessica Andrade (20-7-0) vs. Rose Namajunas (8-4-0)

Shamil Abdurakimhob (20-5-0) vs. Ciryl Gane (6-0-0)

Jeremy Stephens (28-17-0) vs. Calvin Kattar (20-4-0)

Ben Rothwell (37-12-0) vs. Gian Villante (17-11-0)

Uriah Hall (15-9-0) vs. Ronaldo Souza (26-8-0, 1NC)

Sijara Eubanks (4-4-0) vs. Sarah Moras (6-5-0)

Khama Worthy (15-6-0) vs. Ottman Azaitar (12-0-0)

More bouts are expected to be announced.
