The UFC confirmed on Friday that No. 10 Shamil Abdurakimhov (20-5-0) and No. 15 Ciryl Gane (6-0-0) will meet at UFC 249 in Brooklyn.
Gane, 29, is undefeated in six contests and coming off a decision win over Tanner Boser at UFC on ESPN+ 23 in December. Also impressive is the Frenchman’s three submission wins.

Gane is also observant of his country’s recent decision to implement the legalization of MMA.
FINALLY. The world will get to know the value of French fighters! I will not name them, but believe me, we have a LOT of talents in France! 🇫🇷🔝@Sports_gouv @UFCEurope pic.twitter.com/4QSHfDWfuj

Meanwhile, Abdurakimhov has other ideas.
The 38-year-old Russian had a three fight win streak snapped by Curtis Blaydes at UFC 242 in September 2019 and will look to improve on his No. 10 ranking. Like Gane, “Abrek” is not shy about going to the ground as his four submission victories attest.
