Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series to hold open Osaka, Japan tryouts in March

Open tryouts begin on Mar. 8

Aspiring mixed martial arts professionals, get ready to mark your calendars.

Mar. 8 will be the date as Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series announced today that they will be holding official tryouts at the Hotel Vischio Amagasaki in Osaka, Japan.

All applicants must register in order to participate. After an initial screening process, a confirmation email is sent with more details.

ONE Warrior Series features Franklin traveling to various countries recruiting talent who compete to earn six-figure contracts with ONE Championship. Current ONE atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing champion Stamp Fairtex is a well-known graduate of the ONE Warrior Series.

“Osaka is our first of six tryouts this year, and given the level of talent at our Tokyo tryout, our expectations are high,” Franklin said in a press release. “We are looking to make several additions to the roster with a busy year of recruiting, in both mixed martial arts and super series kickboxing. The ONE Warrior Series pace is increasingly giving more opportunities for athletes to graduate through to ONE Championship.”

“We picked up several impressive athletes during our last Japan tryout in Tokyo. Akihiro Fujisawa, Kimihiro Eto and Ryuto Sawada have all moved through ONE Warrior Series into ONE Championship with their careers well underway,” ONE Warrior Series director Jonathan Fong added. “I believe we have only scratched the surface of the talent pool in Japan, and Osaka will be our opportunity to unearth the next superstar. With tryouts all over the world this year, these athletes will have a chance to test themselves on a global level.”

ONE Warrior Series is expected to visit Japan, South Korea, United States, Brazil, and India alongside Singapore in 2020.
