UFC on ESPN 12: Poirier vs. Hooker predictions

Can The Hangman polish The Diamond?

The UFC is back in Las Vegas despite one fighter being removed for a cornerman testing positive for COVID-19.

Ramiz Brahimaj was pulled from the prelims and replaced by Jason Witt, but all other fighters made weight and are negative for the coronavirus.

Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main card.

MAIN CARD (8PM ET/5PM PT)

PHILLIPE LINS (14-4-0) VS. TANNER BOSER (17-6-1)

UFC on ESPN 12

Andrews: Not a lot of margin for error, but Lins should be able to get the decision with his striking

Andrews Prediction: Phillipe Lins via UD

SEAN WOODSON (7-0-0) VS. JULIAN EROSA (22-8-0)

UFC on ESPN 12

Andrews: These guys are both over 6 feet and yet are fighting at a catchweight of 150 pounds. Erosa needs a win badly, but I think Woodson nails the upset.

Andrews Prediction: Sean Woodson via TKO

GIAN VILLANTE (17-11-0) VS. MAURICE GREENE (8-4-0)

UFC on ESPN 12

Andrews: Villante has not been able to put some wins together in quite some time but his power can give the bigger Greene fits as he is suspectible to smaller, powerful fighters. I think Villante lands the shot before Greene can establish his game.

Andrews Prediction: Gian Villante via TKO

BRENDAN ALLEN (14-3-0) VS. KYLE DAUKAUS (9-0-0)

UFC on ESPN 12

Andrews: Allen is welcoming Daukaus to the octagon. Daukaus did well on DWCS but he is looking at a guy who can finish you anywhere, not just on the ground. Allen’s experience should get him the win.

Andrews Prediction: Brendan Allen via UD

MIKE PERRY (13-6-0) VS. MICKEY GALL (6-2-0)

UFC on ESPN 12

Andrews: Perry’s girlfriend is supposedly cornering him for this fight, and he has the power advantage as the bigger guy, but I like the smarts of Gall to overcome that and get the tap.

Andrews Prediction: Mickey Gall via submission

DUSTIN POIRIER (25-6-0, 1NC) VS. DAN HOOKER (20-8-0)

UFC on ESPN 12

Andrews: The miles are piling up on Poirier, but he is still the favoured fighter in this fight for a reason. But I think Dan Hooker shows who he is and upsets The Diamond by hanging around and then finishing late.

Andrews Prediction: Dan Hooker via TKO
