Invicta FC is back in the familiar confines of Kansas City as two strawweight veterans face off in the main event of its first show since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Veteran DeAnna Bennett, who was supposed to take on Victoria Leonardo is out after “Bennett had a medical issue during her weight cut and could not weigh in. Leonardo was paid her show purse after making weight and the fight card will proceed with five fights.”
So, we are down to five fights.
Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the card. You can also watch last week’s The Wiseman Report TV show to hear both Andrews’ and host Cassie Wiseman’s thoughts on the card.
The card streams live on UFC Fight Pass starting at 8 p.m. ET.
GENIA GOODIN (1-0-0) VS. SHELBY KOREN (0-0-0)
Andrews: Not a lot of professional experience here and so I have to go with Genia Goodin.
Andrews Prediction: Genia Goodin via UD
TRISHA CICERO (3-3-0) VS. LAURA GALLARDO (2-0-0)
Andrews: Cicero is coming in on short notice. I like the fact she trains at ATT and is the bigger girl. This is my upset pick to decision Gallardo.
Andrews Prediction: Trisha Cicero via UD
CHELSEA CHANDLER (2-1-0) VS. OLIVIA PARKER (4-0-0)
Andrews: I like Chandler’s experience in the Invicta cage. Parker is making her Invicta debut.
Andrews Prediction: Chelsea Chandler via UD
ALESHA ZAPPITELLA (6-2-0) VS. LINDSEY VANZANDT (7-3-0)
Andrews: Zappitella has an impressive record considering her physical disadvantages being 4-11. She reminds me of Danielle Taylor in terms of having difficulty getting inside to connect on good fighters. VanZandt has the advantage of keeping her away with her length and I think Lindsey does enough to get the decision.
Andrews Prediction: Lindsey VanZandt via UD
EMILY DUCOTE (8-6-0) VS. JULIANNA LIMA (10-6-0, 1NC)
Andrews: I like Ducote’s ground game to overtake Lima after some initial trouble.
Andrews Prediction: Emily Ducote va submission
