White confirmed the bout with CNN today, adding that despite the recent death of Nurmagomedov’s father Abdulmanap, Khabib will unify the crown in about three months.

“It’s been very rough on him,” White told CNN. “His father was a hero to him, he loved his father, they had a very close relationship and it was very hard on him.”

“It’s going to happen, I tell you right here, right now,” White added. “That fight’s going to happen: Khabib vs. Gaethje, October 24.”

Gaethje (22-2-0) won the interim belt by defeating Tony Ferguson at UFC 249. Nurmagomedov (28-0-0) has not fought since defeating Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in September 2019.

The location has not been confirmed although White has said in the past that Khabib’s next fight would be at ‘Fight Island.’
