Invicta FC 41: Morandin vs. Montserrat predictions
All eyes will be on the strawweights at Invicta FC 41 Wednesday night in Kansas City.
Brazilian Janaisa Morandin will face Mexican Montserrat Ruiz in the main event, which will be live streamed on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 7 p.m. CT.
Kenai Andrews checks in with this thoughts on the card.
NATALYA SPEECE (0-0-0) VS. ALEXA CULP (0-0-0)
Andrews: With no pro fights between either of these two, it’s difficult to assess this matchup, but I will. I am leaning towards Culp to eke out a decision.
Andrews Prediction: ALEXA CULP VIA YD
CAITLIN SAMMONS (2-0-0) VS. CLAIRE GUTHRIE (1-0-0)
Andrews: 100 per cent finish rates for both fighters in three contests. Have to go with the more experienced fighter in Sammons to get the stoppage.
Andrews Prediction: Caitlin Sammons via TKO
KELLY ANGELO (5-2-1) VS. ITZEL ESQUIVEL (4-2-0)
UPDATE: This bout has been removed due to a positive Angelo pre-fight COVID-19 test.
KAITLIN YOUNG (10-10-1) VS. LATOYA WALKER (5-1-0)
Andrews: I have to go with the powerhouse in Walker. She looks in shape at 40 and if she connects it could be over quick.
Andrews Prediction: Latoya Walker via TKO
ERIN BLANCHFIELD (5-1-0) VS. BROGAN WALKER-SANCHEZ (5-1-0)
Andrews: This is a tough matchup. Sanchez is coming in on short notice, but can easily win this by piling up the points. After some early trouble, Blanchfeld gets the decision.
Andrews Prediction: Erin Blanchfield via UD
JANAISA MORANDIN (10-3-0) VS. MONTSERRAT RUIZ (8-1-0)
Andrews: Tough one to look at. Morandin missed weight, but has the edge on paper, as Ruiz lost to Danielle Taylor in her debut bout at Invicta. Ruiz should be better, but somehow Morandin, who has lost three of her last four bouts to good fighters, should eke out a decision.
Andrews Prediction: Janaisa Morandin via SD
