Ray Borg

UFC releases former flyweight title contender Ray Borg

Could Bellator be the next stop?

Ray Borg (13-5-0), who was scratched from the UFC on ESPN+ 31 event earlier this month, is no longer with the UFC.

Borg’s release was first reported by MMAFighting.com.

The 27-year-old Tucson, Arizona resident at one time challenged for the flyweight title, but missed weight several times as both a flyweight and bantamweight, most recently at last week’s UFC on ESPN+ 31 event against Nathan Maness.

“The Tasmanian Devil” disclosed in 2018 that his son was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus, a rare brain disorder that needed 12 individual surgeries to fix.

In 12 fights in the octagon, Borg leaves with a 7-5-0 record. His highlight was probably his title fight submission loss to Demetrius Johnson at UFC 216 in October 2017.
