Augusto Sakai (15-1-1) will get his chance to move up in the heavyweight division with a win over No. 6 Alistair Overeem (46-18-0, 1NC) at UFC on ESPN+ 34 Sept. 5.
Sakai, 29, has worked his way to a No. 9 ranking since coming from the Dana White Contender Series. He has four consecutive wins in the octagon, including a split-decision over Blagoy Ivanov at UFC on ESPN 9 in May. Overeem will be the biggest opponent he’s faced yet.
