Veteran UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem returns to the octagon against rising prospect Augusto Saki at UFC on ESPN+ 34 in Las Vegas.
Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the revised main card, reduced to seven bouts due to positive COVID-19 tests.
COLE SMITH (7-1-0) VS. HUNTER AZURE (8-1-0)
Andrews: Cole Smith seems to be the more well rounded and if he can avoid the power of Azure, which is no easy task, he should get the decision.
Andrews Prediction: Cole Smith via UD
BRIAN KELLEHER (21-11-0) VS. RAY RODRIGUEZ (16-6-0)
Andrews: Kelleher has a massive experience advantage plus Rodriguez is replacing Nativdad, who was replacing Ricky Simon on short notice.
Andrews Prediction: Brian Kelleher via UD
#8 VIVIANE ARAUJO (8-2-0) VS. #11 MONTANA DE LA ROSA (11-5-0)
Andrews: De La Rosa wants to get the fight to the ground, but Araujo can strike or tap you. But she did lose to a good striker in Jessica Eye. This could go either way, but De La Rosa probably overcomes the striking and gets the tap in the last round.
Andrews Prediction: Montana De La Rosa via submission
BARTOSZ FABINSKI (15-3-0) VS. ANDRE MUNIZ (19-4-0)
Andrews: Muniz is a nice kid who can tap you out but I don’t think he can deal with the grappling of Fabinski.
Andrews Prediction: Bartosz Fabinksi via UD
MICHEL PEREIRA (23-11-0, 2NC) VS. ZELIM IMADAEV (8-2-0)
Andrews: Imadaev has a good finish rate, but it’s outside of the UFC. He is winless in two bouts in the octagon while Pereira needs to tone down the flamboyance and grind out a win here.
Andrews Prediction: Michel Pereira via UD
OVINCE ST. PREUX (24-14-0) VS. ALONZO MENIFIELD (9-1-0)
Andrews: OSP if he returns to form will look for the choke.
Andrews Prediction: OSP via submission
ALISTAIR OVEREEM (46-18-0, 1NC) VS. AUGUSTO SAKAI (15-1-1)
Andrews: Sakai looks promising, but Overeem is a veteran who is looking for a final run at a title shot.
Andrews Prediction: Alistair Overeem via TKO
