Pettis, 33, is a former WEC and UFC lightweight champion who recently defeated Alex Morono at UFC on ESPN+ 41, in his last octagon fight. He is the first MMA fighter to be featured on a Wheaties cereal box.
“As we get closer to the start of PFL’s 2021 season, we are looking forward to showcasing Anthony’s talents on ESPN and around the world via PFL’s global distribution network,” Murray added.
“I am really looking forward to this next big challenge after signing with the PFL to compete in the lightweight division,” Pettis said. “I’m super impressed with what the PFL has built, how they are growing the sport, and the amazing talent they have added. I’ve been watching the Brazilian guy [Natan] Schulte who is the champion and he is really good but there isn’t anyone I’m scared of.
“The season format is great; I think it will be an amazing new journey for me and to get to wrap it up over the course of one year will be awesome. I can’t wait to get another world championship to add to my collection.”

The PFL’s 2021 season begins on April 23 on ESPN2. Regular Season events take place on April 29, May 6, June 10, June 17, and June 25.
