In a Saturday TV interview with ESPN, UFC president Dana White hinted superstar lightweight Conor McGregor (22-4-0) could grace the octagon two or three times in 2021.
McGregor, 32, the first UFC concurrent champion, is returning to the octagon at UFC 257 this Saturday against No. 2 Dustin Poirier. His last fight was approximately a year ago, defeating Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January 2020.
“If the Conor McGregor that we’re dealing with right now, stays on course and does what he’s supposed to do, we could see Conor two or three times this year,” White said.
White also touched on the lightweight division, the rising stars like Kevin Holland who took advantage of opportunities to fight in 2020, and the COVID-19 bubble that the company implemented last year.
UFC 257 is scheduled for Saturday Jan. 23 at Fight Island in Au Dhabi.
