UFC 257: Poirier vs. McGregor II: Oddsmaker predictions

MyBookie oddsmakers share predictions for Saturday’s showdown

The UFC 257 main event is official between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor, but an incident has cost a prelim fighter his spot on the card.

Ottman Azaitar (13-0-0) has been cut after being involved in a security breach, Dana White confirmed with an UFC Arabia reporter earlier today.

“He and his team cut their wristbands off and got them to people on the outside, one guy,” White confirmed. “This guy got inside the bubble, went in through a room, shimmied down four balconies, and went in through (Azaitar’s) balcony, and dropped off a bag of – we don’t know what. Then he changed his clothes and went back outside of the bubble. So, ee got everything on camera, we saw the whole thing, and how it all went down, pulled his fight and cut him.”

Also, Nasrat Haqparast withdrew from his bout with Arman Tsarukyan due to an “undisclosed illness,” plus Tsarukyan missed weight at 157 pounds. The UFC then created a catchweight bout between Frebvola and Tsarukyan to keep them on the card.

(-115) #15 AMIR ALBAZI (13-1-0) VS. (-115) ZHALGAS ZHUMAGOLOV (13-4-0)

Andrews: I think Albazi has more ways to win as he can finish the fight on the feet or the ground.

(-570) MOVSAR EVLOEV (13-0-0) VS. (+395) NIK LENTZ (30-11-2, 1NC)

Andrews: I have to go with the young prospect. Lentz has lost his last two fights and while he still is tough, will not be able to avoid grinder into a loss.

Andrews Prediction: Movsar Evloev via UD

(-350) KHALIL ROUNTREE JR. (8-4-0, 1NC) VS. (+275) MARCIN PRACHNIO (13-5-0)

Andrews: Can Rountree be aggressive and return to form. Prachino has lost three in a row  and is on the bubble after a nice run over at ONE Championship. I am going to go with Rountree to muster up one more good performance.

Andrews Prediction: Khalil Rountree Jr. via TKO

(-105) #7 JULIANNA PENA (9-4-0) VS. (-125) #9 SARA MCMANN (12-5-0)

Andrews: Tough matchup. Can McMann’s Olympic silver medal grappling cancel Pena’s BJJ. That is the question. Pena looked good despite losing her last bout. and McMann can be taken down to the ground as her last two losses has shown. Pena gets the upset.

Andrews Prediction: Julianna Pena via submission

(-120) #14 BRAD TAVARES (17-6-0) VS. (-110) ANTONIO CARLOS JR. (10-4-0, 1NC)

Andrews: Both guys have lost their past two contests. It should be a close fight but Antonio Carlos Jr. ekes out a close decision.

Andrews Prediction: Antonio Carlos Jr. via SD

(+550) MATT FREVOLA (8-1-1) VS. (-775) ARMAN TSARUKYAN (15-2-0)

Andrews: This is a catchweight 157-pound fight. I think Arman has fought the tougher opponents and should get the decision.

Andrews Prediction: Arman Tsarukyan via UD

(+240) #8 MARINA RODRIGUEZ (12-1-0) VS. (-320) #10 AMANDA RIBAS (10-1-0)

Andrews: Good fun bout between two up-and-comers. Rodriguez is replacing Michelle Waterson. Ribas is on fire, having defeated Mackenzie Dern, Randa Markos, and Paige Vanzant as part of a five fight win streak. She ekes out a nice decision win.

Andrews Prediction: Amanda Ribas via UD

(+120) ANDREW SANCHEZ (12-5-0) VS. (-150) MAKHMUD MURADOV (24-6-0)

Andrews: Sanchez will need to muster up some power as he has a hungry opponent in Muradov coming for his lunch.

Andrews Prediction: Makhmud Muradov via TKO

(-110) #6 JESSICA EYE (15-8-0, 1NC) VS. (-120) #7 JOANNE CALDERWOOD (14-5-0)

Andrews: Jessica as that footwork and striking that helps her grind out decision wins. Jojo has the pressure of the Muay Thai, but not enough BJJ to steal a win. Jessica steals this one after some early trouble.

Andrews Prediction: Jessica Eye via UD

(-140) #6 DAN HOOKER (20-9-0) VS. (+110) MICHAEL CHANDLER (21-5-0)

Andrews: Good fight, with Khabib watching cageside. Hooker is coming off an amazing fight but can he do it against dangerous guy with more power than Poirier and a good ground game but is an octagon rookie? Have to go with eh Hangman’s experience.

Andrew’s Prediction: Dan Hooker via UD

(+235) #2 DUSTIN POIRIER (26-6-0, 1NC) VS. (-315) #4 CONOR MCGREGOR (22-4-0)

Andrews: Poirier should be  much better fighter for his experience over the last six years. But I think Conor is still in his head and if something doesn’t go right early, Conor will take advantage. Does Conor have the gas tank to go five rounds? No, but I think he gets it in the third round.

Andrews Prediction: Conor McGregor via TKO
