PFL 3: Werdum takes on Ferreira, Harrison welcomes Morais in co-main

Can Werdum add the PFL championship to his trophy case?

The PFL revealed the full card matchups for its third event of the 2021 season Tuesday and it includes former UFC and Strikeforce champion Fabricio Werdum.

Werdum (24-9-1), 43, will step back into the cage for the first time since July 2020 when takes on 6-8 opponent Renan Ferreira in the main event.

Ferreira (6-2-0), 31, is also making his debut. The 6-8 Brazilian’s last fight was in August 2019, a TKO victory over Jared Vanderaa at LFA 74.

In the co-main, defending champion and betting favourite Kayla Harrison (8-0-0), 30, starts the season by taking the young rookie in Mariana Morais (16-10-0), 31, who qualified for the season via the PFL International Qualifier Series.

“PFL 3 is setting itself up to be a spectacular event for fans and fighters,” PFL CEO Peter Murray said in a press release. “The matchups showcase superior talent, and we can’t wait to watch it all unfold come May 6 on ESPN and ESPN+. We look forward to providing our fans with world-class MMA content, a revolutionary experience, and nonstop action all season long.”

“As a league that takes enormous pride in its matchups and high-caliber talent, we can’t wait for PFL 3 on May 6,” president of fighter operations Ray Sefo added. “The heavyweights and women’s lightweights are sure to put on a show and we cannot wait to watch these matchups live in action.”

The PFL’s 2021 season begins on April 23 on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and live streamed on ESPN+ in primetime. The regular season events are scheduled for April 29, May 6, June 10, June 17, and June 25.
