UFC on ESPN 21: Brunson vs. Holland predictions

Big test for 'Trail Blazer'

Another case of COVID-19 has struck again, this time at UFC on ESPN 21 in Las Vegas.

The  co-main event between Gregor Gillespie and Brad Riddell has been scrapped hours before the show to due to a violation of COVID-19 protocol. And Julija Stoliarenko vs. Julia Avila has been scrapped, much to Stoliarenko’s chagrin.

Stoliarenko fell to the ground twice during the weigh-ins, prompting the NSAC to step in and cancel the bout, despite the fact she made weight. She took to her Instagram to explain the situation

The main card is now reduced to five fights, but still plenty of prelim bouts to get excited about.

Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main card.

TAI TUIVASA (11-3-0) VS. HARRY HUNSUCKER (7-3-0)

UFC on ESPN 21

Andrews: Both guys are small, yet heavy. Hunsucker is making his debut. Have to go with Tai to come through with the stoppage.

Andrews Prediction: Tai Tuivasa via TKO

GUSTAVO LOPEZ (12-5-0) VS. ADRIAN YANEZ (12-3-0)

UFC on ESPN 21

Andrews: A finisher versus a submission and finisher. This should be a chess game bout. Going with Yanez to drag the bout to the ground and get the tap.

Andrews Prediction: Adrian Yanez via submission

CHEYANNE BUYS (5-1-0) VS. MONTSERRAT RUIZ (9-1-0)

UFC on ESPN 21

Andrews: Buys impressed me on DWCS. But can she produce on the big stage against a seasoned Invicta veteran? It’s a tall order, but I calling an upset here.

Andrews Prediction: Cheyanne Buys via UD

MAX GRIFFIN (16-8-0) VS. SONG KENAN (16-5-0)

UFC on ESPN 21

Andrews: Unless Song gets caught, I expect him to grind out a decision.

Andrews Prediction: Song Kenan via UD

MAIN EVENT

#7 DEREK BRUNSON (21-7-0) VS. #10 KEVIN HOLLAND (21-5-0)

Andrews: Brunson is a solid fighter and I like him a lot, but Holland is on fire right now. He is the lighter guy here, but his technique shines through once again.

Andrews Prediction:  Kevin Holland via TKO
