Cambodian documentary Surviving Bokator continues to rack up awards in 2021, this time at the Lonely Wolf: London International Film Festival.
The documentary picked up the Best Documentary Feature and Best Documentary Director awards at the Lonely Wolf: London International Film Festival. It was also nominated for Best Picture.
Surviving Bokator was directed by Canadian Mark Bochsler and produced by Swiss native Sandra Leuba in 2018. It focused on the Cambodian marital art of Bokator and the politics and determination to revitalize it back into the national consciousness of the country.
The Crossfire interviewed Boschler, and lead star Tharoth Sam during their North American promotional tour in late 2018.
Last year, Surviving Bokator won an honorary mention at Italy’s Milano International FICTS Challenge.
Most recently, Grandmaster Sean Kim San, the longtime caretaker of Bokator in Cambodia, recently celebrated his 76th birthday.
