With a stroke of a pen or in a Nate Diaz’s case, a light of a match, UFC 262 has the company’s first non-title five-round co-main event.

The UFC confirmed the bout in a tweet late Tuesday night. Diaz had confirmed his participation earlier in a tweet Tuesday evening.

Diaz (20-12-0), 35, hasn’t fought since losing the symbolic UFC “BMF” title to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in November 2019. But he is 3-2-0 in his last five fights.

Edwards (18-3-0), 29, is currently ranked No. 3 and will try to atone for a no-contest bout in which he eye poked opponent Belal Muhammad at UFC Vegas 21. But “Rocky” has not lost since 2015, a string of nine contests.

 

UFC 262 is scheduled for May 15 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
