PFL puts more boots on the ground in Vietnam via media partnership with FPT TV

Vietnam gains access to the PFL via one of the leading broadcasters

The PFL continues to deploy more troops overseas in Asia, this time in Vietnam with media deal with one of the country’s leading broadcasters, FPT TV.

Under the deal, FPT TV will be the exclusive content provider for the 2021 season, carrying each PFL event from the regular season, to the playoffs and championship events. Vietnamese viewers will be able to watch or stream the content at their choosing.

Additional content produced by the PFL’s production arm PFL Studios, will also be included across all digital platforms.

“Our partnership with FPT TV represents the growing demand for MMA content in Asia,” PFL CEO Peter Murray said in a press release. “PFL appeals to the more than 550 million MMA fans around the world because of our unique season format and our elite talent, and our premium broadcast product is accelerating our global footprint.”

Established in 1988, the FPT Group (Financing and Promoting Technology), the umbrella organization that houses the FPT TV arm, reported revenues of $27.717 billion VND in 2019 and $29.830 billion VND in 2020. Sports are big part of its content, airing premier Italian and Asian Football leagues like the Series A and Asian Football Confederation.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The PFL’s 2021 season begins on April 23 on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and live streamed on ESPN+ in primetime. The regular season events are scheduled for April 29, May 6, June 10, June 17, and June 25.
