ONE Championship lightweight champion Christian Lee scored a quick TKO victory over No. 3 challenger Timofey Nastyukhin at ONE on TNT II Wednesday night.
Building off their American live debut last Wednesday, ONE on TNT II was aired via tape delay from the Singapore Indoor Stadium Wednesday on TNT.
Lee (15-3-0) broke the ice early in the first round with a right hand, with Nastyukhin (!4-5-0) stuffing a subsequent double-leg takedown. But then Lee caught Nastyukhin coming in, countering a right hand with a short left hand. After crashing to the ground, Lee landed numerous strikes that forced the referee to halt the contest at 1:13.
The victory was Lee’s sixth consecutive and he has not lost a bout since September 2018. The loss snapped Nastyukhin’s two fight win streak.
In the co-main event, ONE atomweight Muay Thai world kickboxing champion and No. 2 Muay Thai contender Janet Todd used superior pacing and power to overwhelm No. 3 Norwegian challenger Anne Line Hogstad with a liver kick at 1:36 of the third round.
Todd dictated the bout by initiating powerful combinations that penetrated Hogstad’s guard, and then quickly scooted out of range preventing the challenger from returning fire.
The win was Todd’s third consecutive and the stoppage makes a strong case for a title shot with champion Allycia Hellen Rodriguez or an elimination contender bout with the rival she won her kickboxing title from, No. 1 Stamp Fairtex.
