ONE on TNT IV: Middleweight champ Reinier de Ridder adds light heavyweight strap, calls out heavyweight champion Brandon Vera

Another wild night at Singapore Indoor Stadium

Reinier de Ridder is now a two-division champion at ONE Championship.

De Ridder’s unanimous decision win over rival Aung La N Sang (26-12-0) at ONE on TNT IV Wednesday improved his unbeaten record to 14 victories and gained premier status as a two-division champion.

De Ridder used his ground game in the first round to threaten La N Sang with a deep arm-triangle choke, but La N Sang defended it admirably. He continued to work on the ground in the second half of the second round, with La N Sang defending but not really able to land any offence.

The third round was more of the same, with De Ridder having an easier time getting La N Sang to the floor and with three rounds firmly belonging to “The Dutch Knight,” La N Sang needed to do something.

But the offensive comeback for “The Burmese Python” never came as Ridder bested him once again.

It was a disappointing night for former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez (30-8-0, 2NC), as he dropped to 1-2-0 with a no-contest in ONE losing a gutsy unanimous decision to Rae Yoon Ok (15-3-0).

Alvarez was almost finished in the first round, absorbing a powerful one-two combination by Ok that sent him crashing to the floor. Then, Alvarez somehow survived numerous hammerfists by Ok and even returned some fire at the end.

Alvarez did get a brief takedown in the second round, but Ok popped right back up but started to tire perhaps from the pressure of “The Underground King.”

The third round definitely saw Ok fatigue, with a desperate Alvarez trying to finish the fight. But Ok’s dominant first round was too much.

In the unusual department, Krill Girishenko (4-0-0) defeated Sengalese internet darling Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane after a shot to the throat rendered him unable to continue by referee Olivier Coste despite Kane’s protests.

Shinya Aoki smothered Eduard Folayang on the ground almost from the get-go and secured a first-round armbar submission rubber match victory.

The first prelim catchweight bout saw Karate striking phenom Colbey Northcutt (2-1-0)ย secure an impressive first-round arm-bar submission victory over GAMMA gold medal competitor Courtney Martin (0-1-0).
