Asian MMA promotion ONE Championship is putting 32 of Europe’s best kickboxers together with the winner earning a contract to compete.
The heavyweight kickboxing showdown initially kicked off on April 24 in Prague, Czech Republic, where Tomas Hron came out the winner.
Set across Serbia, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey and Germany with additional locations, ONE revealed the first eight events will feature a four-man bracket with the winners advancing to the quarterfinals.
According to ONE, following the first eight events, athletes will advance through the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final round, with the ultimate tournament winner earning a contract with ONE Championship.
The contests will be broadcast live on local European networks and streamed on the company’s ONE Super App.
“We are pleased to announce ‘Road to ONE: Europe,’ and we are excited to soon crown a heavyweight kickboxing champion who will make it through to ONE Championship,” ONE Championship Italy Carlo Di Blasi said in a press release. “‘Road to ONE: Europe’ is an incredible opportunity to showcase the European fighting heritage and further expand ONE Championship’s global footprint. The tournament kicked off in Prague last April, and kickboxing legend Tomáš Hron made it through to the next round. We can’t wait to showcase even more amazing talent in the coming events.”
Potential dates for these events and competitors were not released and are expected to be disclosed in the future.
