Another women’s strawweight matchup between to former title contenders has been added to the UFC 265 card in August.
Karolina Kowalkiewicz, one of Poland’s favourite daughters, will return to take on Jessica Pennein in a battle of veterans.
Kowalkiewicz (12-6-0), 35, will look to generate some momentum towards one more run at the title. Since winning her first three octagon bouts, the “Polish Princess” has lost six of her last eight bouts. A return to striking form is essential to keep Penne from taking the fight to the ground.
Penne (13-5-0), 38, is also struggling, having lost three of her last four fights and the lone win was a razor-thin split-decision over Lupita Godinez in April. Penne has shown she can strike but more likely is to get Kowalkiewicz to the canvas and away from her striking strength.
UFC 265 is scheduled for August 7 at a venue to be determined. Announced matches include:
AMANDA NUNES (21-4-0) VS. JULIANNA PENA (10-4-0)
ALONZO MENIFIELD (10-2-0) VS. ED HERMAN (26-14-0, 1NC)
