UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno’s historic achievement at UFC 263 was recognized by Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador Tuesday.
Obrador met with Moreno at the Palacio Nacional in Mexico City to personally express his congratulations and recognize his efforts to inspire the country.

“I want to pay a homage here to our countryman who, with a lot of effort, accomplished his dreams and even more when he triumphed in a very motivating way. He called the Mexican people to overachieve and not see anything impossible in life,” Obrador said in Spanish in a video posted on social media. “When there’s perseverance, when there’s discipline, when there is will, nothing is impossible.”
Moreno, 27, (19-5-2) defeated Deiveson Figueiredo by third-round submission at UFC 263 to win the title.
