Team Canada’s boxing team is now on the board at the Tokyo 2020 Games, thanks to featherweight Caroline Veyre early Monday morning.
Veyre, 32, pounced on the openings of opponent Nikolina Cacic, 20, en route to a convincing unanimous decision victory to advance to the featherweight quarterfinals.

Looking comfortable in the pocket or on the outside, Veyre repeatedly broke through the guard of Cacic to land right hands and combinations.
A point was deducted from Cacic by referee Bachir Abbar in the second round for excessive grabbing.
The road now gets tougher as she will face Italy’s Irma Testa, 23, in the quarterfinals.
