Former boxing great Oscar De La Hoya returns to the ring to face former UFC champion Vitor Belfort in September.
The boxing exhibition bout, part of the main event dubbed Triller Fight Club: Legends II, the two combat sports legends talked to the media today and faced off for photographs in Los Angeles earlier today at the Staples Center.
Both fighters were respectful and spoke of looking forward to putting on a good show. De La Hoya, 48, the former Olympic gold medal “Golden Boy” who became a boxing promoter and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, comes into the fight with a huge experience advantage as an 11-time former champion in six weight classes with an Olympic gold medal for good measure.
Belfort, 44, does have some boxing experience but entered professional mixed martial arts at age 19, competing around the world and winning the UFC light heavyweight title. He will be the younger fighter in the ring.
The exhibition is scheduled for Sept. 11 as the main event at the Staples Center.
