The PLF featherweight and light heavyweight playoff semi-final brackets were settled on Thursday with some new finalists looking to score $1 million USD in October.
Undefeated Movlid Khaybulaev booked his ticket to the featherweight finals by edging Brendan Loughnane by split-decision. He will meet former UFC fighter Chris Wade, who decisioned No. 3 Bubba Jenkins to break through after lightweight semi-final eliminations in 2018 and 2019.
In the light heavyweight semi-final bracket, former UFC contender Antonio Carlos Jr. outlasted Emiliano Sordi while Marthin Hamlet quickly took out Cezar Ferreira.
“Tonight capped off a thrilling month of win-or-go-home action that only PFL can deliver for MMA fans around the world,” PFL CEO Peter Murray said in a press release. “The final four contenders from the featherweight and light heavyweight divisions put it all on the line and I can’t wait for the biggest night in the sport on October 27. Twelve fighters across six divisions will strive to forever change their legacies by becoming world champions and earning the $1 million prize.”
“I want to congratulate the four fighters who booked their spot in the PFL World Championship on Oct. 27,” PFL president of fighter operations Ray Sefo added. “Our league is a true meritocracy where everything is earned and we can’t wait to crown our new champions.”
