ONE: Revolution: Ok Rae Yoon stuns Christian Lee with unanimous decision victory to win lightweight belt

Lee: "That was bullish*t"

It appeared even Ok Rae Yoon had trouble believing he was the new lightweight champion of the world at ONE: Revolution.

Yoon’s sheepish tongue grin and humble post-fight interview after five tough rounds with Christian Lee as the belt was placed on his shoulder by ONE Chairman Chatri Sityodtong will sit in the craw of many fans who thought Lee pulled off the win.

It’s important to note that in ONE Championship, MMA fights are judged not round-by-round, but as a whole.

The first two rounds saw Lee walk down the defensive Yoon, who unsuccessfully tried to take Yoon down along with some submission attempts. Yoon utilized some good takedown defence not taking too much damage when he was briefly taken down, relying on counter striking.

But in the third round Yoon stepped on the gas and the two exchanged flash knockdowns. But Lee seemed fatigued from the first two rounds which allowed Yoon to be more aggressive and connect striking wise.

Lee tried to retain his aggressiveness in the championship rounds. Yoon’s ability to connect seemed to be slightly crisper until a late right hand from Lee in the last round that wobbled Yoon. The South Korean recovered, but many thought the late flurry secured the win for Lee.

With the win, Yoon has now won five in a row. Lee had a six-fight win streak snapped with the loss, but his 17-year-old sister Victoria scored her third consecutive victory earlier by stopping Victoria Souza in the prelims.

In the post-fight interview, Lee reiterated that while he respected Yoon, he won the fight and wanted an immediate rematch from the board.
