UFC middleweight Derek Brunson: Jake Paul has “no chance” against me in a boxing match

"I'm not going to let him backpedal ... I'm going to floor the guy."

Add UFC middleweight Derek Brunson to the list of UFC fighters who are not particularly impressed with YouTuber Jake Paul’s boxing run.

Brunson (23-7-0), 37, who is on a five fight win streak in the UFC, has been training as of late with Jeff Mayweather, talked about fighting Paul and his opponents in a recent Mayweather Boxing Channel video on YouTube.

“I’m a student of the game,” Brunson said. “I’m a wrestler. I wrestled in college for four years. I wrestled in high school. Been wrestling about 20-30 years. But I’ve been training kickboxing, boxing for years. I’m only getting better and keep studying to get better.┬áTake a guy like Jake Paul, who’s only been boxing for like three years is going to beat me? The guy don’t have the hand speed to beat me.”

Brunson was not impressed with Paul’s wins over former UFC fighters Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren, noting that Paul needs to “step up” as those fighters were at the end of their careers.

“He’s a UFC fighter right now and basically if we had a boxing camp together, yeah, he would beat Jake Paul,” added Mayweather.

A bigger question would be if president Dana White would allow Brunson or any signed UFC fighter to fight Paul. White is on record as disliking Triller and their management brass.

Brunson recently defeated Darren Till at UFC Vegas 36.
