MMA fighter Justin Thornton, who also recently competed under the BKFC boxing banner, died today.
Thornton suffered a TKO loss to Dillon Cleckler in a heavyweight bout at BKFC 20 in August where a right hand dropped him face first 18 seconds into the fight.
He was taken to hospital and remained there until his passing. The cause of death has not been officially announced.

“This morning we were very saddened to be notified of the passing of one of our fighters, Justin Thornton, who competed at BKFC 20 on August 20, 2021,” BKFC president Dave Feldman confirmed in a statement.
“We join the rest of the combat sports community in sending our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Thornton competed in MMA for over a decade in various smaller MMA promotions, compiling a 6-18-0 record. His record shows 11 losses by knockout or TKO with five submission defeats.
The death of Thornton follows female boxer Jeanette Zacarias Zapata, who never regained consciousness in the ring after being knocked out in late August. Kickboxer Jorja Halliday also passed away last Tuesday due to COVID-19.
