Scotland’s Hannah Rankin is a world champion again.
Rankin (11-5-0, 2 KOs), 31, used crisp boxing to outwork Maria Lindberg of Sweden and take a 98-92, 98-92, and 97-93 scores from the judges.
Accomplishing the feat Friday night in her home country of the United Kingdom, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Rankin became champion after becoming Scotland’s first female world champion in May 2019.
Lindberg (19-8-2, 10 KOs 1NC), 44, has now split her last four contests.
There could be an opportunity for Rankin to grab more titles as the WBC, WBA, and IBF belts are currently vacant.
