Khabib’s Eagle FC inks former UFC lightweight Kevin Lee to deal

Kevin Lee is now flying with the eagles, courtesy of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s new promotion, Eagle FC.

The organization in a Dec. 15 Eagle FC 44 press conference announced the signing of Lee, formerly a UFC lightweight contender. Sitting beside Tyron Spong, and Rashad Evans, Lee stated that his first fight is expected to be on Mar. 11 against an opponent to be named.

“It’s amazing,” Lee said. “Walking into this building feels like a fresh start. I could feel like a new energy. And to be around a great champion and great champions in the past and try to follow in their footsteps, I feel like it’s big shoes to fill, and I’m here to do that.”

Eagle FC is expected to open 165 and 175 pound divisions, which would be something that other big promotions like the UFC do not have. It was also something which Lee was receptive to.

Lee will move down to the home base of the organization to acclimate himself, which is Miami, Florida.

Meanwhile, the company’s first of 10 U.S. events scheduled for 2022, Eagle FC 44, is set for Jan. 28 in Miami. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans is expected to appear, as well as kickboxing champion Tyrone Spong vs. Sergei Kharitonov, former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao vs. Horatio Gutierrez.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
