UFC 272 will feature a contest between two former American Top Team teammates.
The UFC confirmed Thursday that welterweights Colby Covington (16-3-0) and Jorge Masvidal (35-15-0) will meet in the main event of UFC 272 next week.
After a lot of trash talk, Covington, ranked No. 1 in the division, will try to shake off two losses in his last three fights to champion Kamaru Usman.
Meanwhile, Masvidal, 37, comes in as the underdog in the bout but is also looking to shake off two losses to Usman, including a highlight reel loss at UFC 261 last April. But he did win the “BMF” title from Nate Diaz back in 2019.
Both fighters seem to be relishing the opportunity to humble the other.
