Kayla Harrison is the lone female in the running for best MMA fighter amoung some male competition at the 2022 ESPYS Awards.
Harrison (14-0-0), 30, the only female nominated in the category amoung fellow UFC colleagues Charles Oliveira, Kamaru Usman, and Alexander Volkanovski can win the PFL’s first ESPY award on July 20, which is the date the ESPN Awards show airs on ABC.
The ESPYS is an ESPN awards show where fans can vote for athletes in various categories.
“The PFL family is ecstatic to see Kayla recognized alongside the best athletes in the world, as we know the tireless effort and dedication she’s put into becoming one of the elite combat sports stars,” PFL CEO Peter Murray said in a press release. “In a sport where headlines are traditionally dominated by men, Kayla is a transcendent talent and we’re excited to see where she takes the future of women’s MMA as she continues building her legacy.”
Harrison recently won a TKO finish over Kaitlin Young and clinched the No. 2 seed at 2022 PFL 6 in Atlanta.
