Claressa Shields vs. Savannah Marshall for middleweight undisputed highlights historic all-women’s Sept. 10 boxing event in London

A monster undisputed fight between champions Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall will air live on U.K. broadcaster Sky Sports in September.

And it’s not just Shields and Marshall. Promoted by Ben Shalom, the entire event for the first time will consist of female bouts aired live from the O2 Arena on Great Britain’s biggest sports broadcaster, Sky Sports.

Both fighters are unbeaten professionally, but Marshall (12-0-0, 10 KOs) is the only fighter to beat Shields as an amateur, back in 2012. Marshall towers over Shields physically at 6-0 compared to the 5-8 of Shields, but “the Silent Assassin” has a much higher finish rate with 10 KOs in her 12 bouts, as opposed to two for “T-Rex” (12-0-0, 2 KOs.)

Naturally, the U.K. media is pivoting Marshall, who was born in Hartlepool, as the fighter to topple Shield’s stranglehold on the middleweight division.

Shields and Marshall both recently appeared in a press conference and there were a few sections where the two got into a heated argument over accomplishments and what will happen.

They say Marshall is shy away from the ring, hence her nickname, but Marshall certainly stood up for herself at the press conference.

Let the pre-amble begin.
