PFL 9: 2022 Playoffs: Kayla Harrison starts third consecutive lightweight title quest against Martina Jindrova

Two-time PFL women’s lightweight champion Kayla Harrison is not the No. 1 seed going into August’s event, but she remains the favourite.

The Copper Box Arena in London will be the venue for the 12-fight Aug. 20 event, with ESPN and ESPN+ airing and streaming the event.

“Heading to London is huge for the expansion of the League,” PFL president of fighter operations Ray Sefo said in a press release. “We are bringing our brand of MMA to the UK and I’m sure they are going to be as excited as I am to see elite fighters like Kayla Harrison, Chris Wade and Brendan Loughnane compete with so much on the line.”

Harrison (14-0-0), 32, enters the playoffs as the No. 2 seed, eclipsed on points by Larissa Pacheo in the regular season. She will face No. 3 seed in Martina Jindrova (6-2-0), 31, of the Czech Republic and is heavily favoured to advance despite Jindrova’s two regular season wins.

Meanwhile No. 1 seed Larissa Pacheco (17-4-0), 27, will take on Ukranian challenger Olena Kolesnyk (7-4-0), 31, in a rematch. Pacheco took the regular season contest by knockout and will look to do the same in London.

Featherweight top seed Chris Wade (22-7-0), 34, will look to take his 2021 Finals appearance one step further as he takes on Brendan Loughnane (23-4-0), 32, in the semi-finals. Loughnane will have the hometown advantage.

Ryoji Kudo (11-3-0), 29, will take on Bubba Jenkins (18-5-0), 34, in the other featherweight semi-final.

The event will also feature the debut of British three-time Muay Thai world champion Dakota Ditcheva (5-0-0), 23, the daughter of world kickboxing champion Lisa Howarth who will be welcomed by Moroccan Hassna Gaber (4-1-0).

The PFL playoffs kick off on Aug. 5 with the lightweights and light heavyweights in New York, while the heavyweights and welterweights tangle Aug. 13 in Cardiff, Wales.
