Invicta FC 48: Tennant vs. Rubin predictions

Invicta FC bantamweight champion Taneisha Tennant and challenger Olga Rubin both made weight in Denver to make the title fight official.

Tennant (4-1-0) is looking to make her first defence since winning the title at Invicta FC 44 last August with a big win over the former Bellator competitor Olga Rubin (7-2-0) in the main event.

For those keeping score, we talked to Tennant late last year, when she appeared in the Halle Berry movie Bruised.

Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main event. Remember, the action begins at 9:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m MT.

AUTTUMN NORTON (1-1-0) VS. MARIA DKUJIC (2-0-0)

Invicta FC 48

Andrews: Both fighters are just starting their pro careers but I think the Canadian makes a statement here.

Andrews Prediction: Maria Dkujic via UD

AMBER LEIBROCK (5-4-0) VS. MORGAN FRIER (4-3-0)

Invicta FC 48

Andrews: Leibrock is a bit taller but has struggled recently and I think Frier is itching for a win after having lost to Kayla Harrison and Sarah Kaufman in the PFL.

Andrews Prediction: Morgan Frier via TKO

MELISSA ODDESSA (3-1-0) VS. ISIS VERBEEK (4-1-0)

Invicta FC 48

Andrews: Both fighters are making their Invicta debut. What was Verbeek thinking with that outfit at the weigh-ins? At any rate, she is eight years younger than Odessa and seems more versatile on paper.

Andrews Prediction: Isis Verbeek via submission

LIANA PIROSIN (7-4-0) VS. KRISTINA WILLIAMS (5-3-0)

Invicta FC 48

Andrews: Both fighters looking to move up with a win. Williams has the advantage on paper and if she can avoid the big shot, should eke out the decision.

Andrews Prediction: Kristina Williams via UD

TALITA BERNARDO (7-4-0) VS. KATHARINA LEHNER (7-3-0)

Invicta FC 48

Andrews: Both of the fighters like to go to the ground, but Bernardo has fought top UFC competition so I think the advantage goes to her on paper. But Lehner has a surprise.

Andrews Prediction: Talita Bernardo via submission

MAIN EVENT

TANEISHA TENNANT (4-1-0) VS. OLGA RUBIN (7-2-0)

Andrews: Rubin has lost to top competition so she will be competitive, but I think the striking of Tennant dictates this bout. She will pile up the points if she doesn’t finish Rubin.

Andrews Prediction: Taneisha Tennant via TKO

Enjoy the fights.
