Combat Sports community responds to the death of BJJ star Leandro Lo

The sudden death of Brazilian jiu-jitsu star Leandro Lo has hit the combat sports community hard.

Saturday, at a music concert in São Paulo, Brazil, Lo was reportedly killed.

There are reports of an incident between off-duty police officer Henrique Otavio Oliveira Velozo and Lo. Lo took Velozo down to the ground where afterwards, Velozo allegedly shot Lo in the forehead with a gun.

Lo, 33, was pronounced brain dead on the way to the hospital.

An eight-time world champion in BJJ, Lo was a perennial competitor in the World Cup, Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championships, and the Pan American Championships.

Condolences to Lo’s family and friends. There has been no public mention of funeral arrangements.
