Shane Burgos is the latest former UFC fighter to join the PFL.
Burgos (15-3-0), 31, revealed fought out his UFC contract with a win over Charles Jourdain at UFC on ABC 3 in July. Since debuting in the octagon in the latter part of 2016, Burgos went 8-3-0 and was ranked No. 14 in August.
In an interview on “The MMA Hour,” Burgos said the PFL made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. “I went out there, I tested the free agency market, and I’m excited to announce that I’m signing with the PFL,” Burgos said. “It was not an easy decision. It was an offer I couldn’t turn it (down). I have two daughters at home, and I have to look at them in the face and say it was worth it when it’s all said and done in the sport. With this deal, I think that will secure that.”
With four UFC Fight of the Night Awards under his belt, Burgos is expected to contend in the PFL’s featherweight division.
