Tony Ferguson is going back to the future for his UFC 279 bout with Li Jingliang at the T-Mobile Arena in September.
Ferguson (25-7-0), 38, won TUF 13 in 2011 as a welterweight but has competed in the UFC as a lightweight for most of his career. But after a drought with four consecutive losses, “El Cucuy” is switching things up.
Meanwhile, Jingliang (19-7-0), 34, is coming off three good performances which resulted in two wins in his last three bouts. His last fight was a TKO victory over Muslim Salikhov at UFC on ABC 3 in July.
Many fighters have been cut from the UFC for having less than four losses in a row. The pressure has to be on Ferguson to return to the win column in Las Vegas.
UFC 279 is scheduled for Sept. 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Current bouts include:
#3 KHAMZAT CHIMAEV (11-0-0) VS. NATE DIAZ (20-13-0)
