Former Canadian UFC middleweight Elias Theodorou dead at 34

Former TUF winner and medical cannabis advocate Elias Theodorou passed away Sunday at 34 years old.

‘The Mane Event’ (19-3-0) was privately dealing with Stage 4 liver cancer, a situation he revealed to a select few, according to TSN reporter Aaron Bronsteter.

Theodorou, who was born in Mississauga, Ontario, won the TUF: Ultimate Nations edition in 2014 and competed in the UFC’s middleweight division for about five years until 2019, going 7-3-0. He was also a ring boy in the Invicta FC promotion.

As a medial cannabis advocate, he made history in Canada and the United States by becoming the first fighter to successfully compete with a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) in those countries.

“The Spartan” also competed in the reality show “The Amazing Race” on 2015.
